MEDICATION ERRORS
Erice, Sicily, 2nd- 6th May 2016

Aim of the Course:
A medication error is an unintended failure in the treatment process that leads to, or has the potential to lead to, harm to the patient. It has been estimated that 1–2% of patients admitted to US hospitals are harmed as a result of medication errors. Prescribing faults and prescription errors are the main problem among medication errors. In fact, prescription errors account for 70% of medication errors that could result in adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The approach to this issue of great medical importance must be multifactorial, since there are many aspects to consider. The aim of the proposed Course is to gather influential scientists for a review of the most recent updates on medication errors, that will be offered to the researchers who will take part to the course as “students”.

Annual Meeting in “Danish Society of Genetic Epidemiology”

D. 18. marts 2016 afholdes årsmøde med temaet "Precision medicine and personalized treatment in Denmark – time for a new and promising concept”.
Mødet afholdes på Odense Universitet, Campusvej 55, Odense M.

There is large individual variation in the efficacy and risk of adverse reactions of most drugs. That is, individuals with the same diagnosis and same prescription often respond differently. Both lack of efficacy and adverse reactions is a problem to the single patient besides being an economic burden to the health care system. Accordingly, attention has been focused upon treatment on the individual level, also known as personalized medicine or precision medicine. The upcoming annual meeting in the Danish Society of Genetic Epidemiology highlights this field.

25 year birthday symposium for Odense University pharmacoepidemiological Database (OPED)

Hvordan ser fremtidens muligheder ud for at sikre mest sundhed for pengene?

Andrew Dillon, administrerende direktør i NICE, England
Jürgen Windeler, administrerende direktør for IQWiG, Tyskland
